Getting Started with Therapy Village

Getting Started

After receiving a referral to The Therapy Village, or even if you are seeking out therapy on your own accord, please contact our office. The office staff will obtain your health insurance information and check your benefits for therapy. Upon your arrival to our facility, please check in at the front desk. We will need the following: your insurance or Medicaid card, prescription for therapy(s) from your child’s pediatrician and your driver’s license or identification card. We will ask you to complete new client paperwork. Also, you may be asked to complete a Sensory Profile if your child will be receiving occupational therapy.

Initial Assessment

The initial assessment will last about an hour. In the beginning of the evaluation, the therapist will discuss your concerns regarding your child’s development and history. Following this discussion, we will take your child into one of our therapy rooms for the evaluation in order for the therapist to accurately score and report on all testing material. A plan of care and goals will be included in the evaluation report. We strongly encourage all parents/care-givers to share with us personal goals you would like to see your child achieve as well so that these may be included in the evaluation report.

First Session

During your child's therapy session, most of our parents remain in the waiting room. Typically, children participate at a greater level and/or transition more easily between activities without their parent present.

If a parent wishes to leave the facility while their child is in session, please ensure that all contact information is up-to-date. We request that you return within adequate time to meet with your child’s therapist to review their progress and suggested home activities.

We are dedicated to providing the highest quality of therapy using the latest techniques available from research and continuing education.
